Ecological Gardening Series: Creating a Food Forest & Cooking Demo
← All EventsJoin us for an introduction to food forests: what they are, why they matter, and how to begin creating one in our region. We’ll explore which plants are best suited to this area, along with the benefits and challenges of starting a small-scale food forest.

Together, we’ll look at examples already taking root at Spiral House Park and learn how these systems can sustainably provide food, medicine, and materials for everyday use. Food forests draw on generations of ecological knowledge that once sustained communities in this region, knowledge we’re excited to revisit and share.
The workshop will also include a cooking demonstration led by Diane, featuring ingredients from our food forest plantings and other locally sourced crops.
We’ll conclude by getting our hands in the soil, helping to site, plant, and protect some of Spiral House Park’s first food forest plants. Come ready to learn, connect, and discover the abundance that can grow all around us.
