Morning Bird Walk with Kyle Bardwell

Join local bird enthusiast Kyle Bardwell for a guided early-morning walk through Spiral House Park's gardens and woodland trails, slowing down and tuning into the birds that call the park home this time of year. Early August sits at a turning point in the birding calendar — resident species are still tending late broods, while the first early migrants begin their journey south.

As we move through the park's gardens and woodland edges, we'll identify species by sight and sound and talk through what makes this stretch of habitat a summer home for local breeding birds.

Birders of all experience levels are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Kyle is a Senior Civil Engineer in Dutchess County and a graduate of the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF), where he earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Resources Engineering in 2015.

Growing up in Ossining, Kyle developed a deep appreciation for both science and the outdoors. His passion for birdwatching began in 2007 and has since taken him across the country in pursuit of birds and wildlife. While he enjoys birding far and wide, his primary focus has been the rich birdlife of the Hudson Valley.

Kyle is an active member of several regional birding organizations, including Saw Mill River Audubon, Putnam Highlands Audubon, and the Ralph Waterman Bird Club. He also volunteers as a local eBird sightings reviewer, helping to support community science and bird conservation efforts throughout the region.
